"Two or three weeks after beginning testing in the new lab, the MOH initiated plans to add labs. Since that time more and more labs have been brought into service," Mahdi said.
"China has shown its interest in cooperating with other countries in the development of a vaccine against the new coronavirus, even announcing that it will make its vaccines a public good with universal access," he said.
"People cannot assume other people are doing all these things just because they are exactly doing the same thing in other countries. This is the problem. Some people are doing all these things in other countries. But now they are blaming other countries doing such things. We never do these," he said.
It is "a very negative trend that we need to defend ourselves against," Allen said, adding that both sides should work on building up mutual trust, "which is at a historic low right now."
Nearly 70 percent of the surveyed U.S. companies were optimistic about the commercial prospects of the Chinese market, and 87 percent of the companies reported no plans to shift production out of China, according to the survey.
Sorasak said the recent rising tendency in protectionism and unilateralism poses a severe hindrance to the global effort undertaken at the World Trade Organization (WTO) and beyond.
"I don't think there's an evidence that any company is giving such information to the Chinese government. People make these allegations, but they never show any evidence," said Cui in response to the U.S. government's allegations that TikTok might give its data to the Chinese government when he was attending the 2020 Aspen Security Forum on Aug. 4.
