BEIJING, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- The United States is not qualified to build a coalition of "clean countries" because the country itself is dirty all over, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Wednesday.
According to media reports, the HKSAR government on Wednesday has issued notices of the above-mentioned decisions to the consulate generals of Germany and France in Hong Kong.
He recalled that leaders and statesmen of the elder generation in China and the United States acted in the fundamental interests of the two peoples and made the political decision of historic significance with their exceptional strategic vision and political courage to rise above the differences in ideology and social systems.
"It is neither necessary nor possible for the two sides to change each other. Instead, we should respect the choice independently made by the people of the other side," he said.
A similar executive order has also been issued for WeChat, a messaging and social media app owned by Chinese tech giant Tencent.
The current U.S. administration has always vaunted a so-called "America First" policy, claiming to "Make America Great Again." However, when the United States repeatedly abandons multilateralism, withdraws from international responsibilities and obligations, constantly engages in ideological confrontation, and repeatedly blame foreign factors for its domestic failures, the so-called "America First" would only face more opposition and its coveted "greatness" only diminish. "I have been to China three times. China has a rich history and culture just as what Fiji does. Cultural exchange like today's visit will help us know better each other. Needless to say, we need to respect each other's history and culture and this will help us enjoy good relationship and cooperation," he said.
Everyone can see easily and clearly that the U.S. goal is to keep its monopoly in science and technology and deny other countries the legitimate right to development, Wang said.
He said the Chinese side is ready to enter into candid, effective consultation with the U.S. side and make cool-headed and sensible response to the impulsive moves and anxiety of the U.S. side.
The spokesperson said that focusing on fighting the virus and saving lives should be the one true task at hand for the United States, not regurgitating excuses to shift the blame to China, as confirmed cases in the country surged over 5 million and deaths over 160,000. Enditem
"I want to be very honest and frank with all of you, the real question for America is: Is the United States ready to live with another country with a different history, different culture, different system, but with no intention to compete for global dominance with the United States?" Cui asked. "Are you ready to live with us in peace? This is the fundamental question. Hopefully, politicians, diplomats, journalists, scholars here could think about this really seriously."
