BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- China has provided the United States with over 26.5 billion face masks and other medical supplies, and hopes that the United States can overcome the COVID-19 epidemic at an early date, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said on Friday.
Whenever it seeks to contain China's increasing tech influence or defend the U.S. industry from competition, the present U.S. administration has cited national security concerns without concrete evidence, unscrupulously putting any competitor or challenger into the crosshairs for punishment like a fine, ban or sanction.
Wang said that China-U.S. relations are facing the gravest challenge since the establishment of diplomatic ties, and their exchanges and cooperation in many areas are being seriously disrupted.
"This move can be considered as the latest card used by the United States in its fight against China and its technological rise. This is a battle for technological dominance," Altay Atli, a scholar at Istanbul's Bogazici University, told Xinhua.
Washington, with its questionable policies and deeds, is losing support globally and has been reprimanded by various UN bodies quite a few times.
He made the remarks in a signed article titled "Respect History, Look to the Future and Firmly Safeguard and Stabilize China-U.S. Relations," which was published Friday.
"The constitutions of more than 100 countries in the world stipulate that the exercise of fundamental rights and freedoms must not endanger national security. The European Convention on Human Rights has similar provisions," the mission noted.
"I applaud the Chinese position of being open to dialogue and finding a way out of the differences between the two countries," Carrion told Xinhua recently.
"China will not allow these people to get their way," said Wang.
Such moves naturally gain little support, said Wang.
The Chinese government will strictly enforce the law on safeguarding national security in Hong Kong, and strive to maintain prosperity and stability in Hong Kong, said the spokesperson. Enditem
